What is Marijuana Anonymous?
Marijuana Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share our experience, strength, and hope with each other that we may solve our common problem and help others to recover from marijuana addiction.
We are District 14 of the Marijuana Anonymous World Service.
The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop using marijuana. There are no dues or fees for membership. We are self-supporting through our own contributions. MA is not affiliated with any religious or secular institution or organization and has no opinion on any outside controversies or causes. Our primary purpose is to stay free of marijuana and to help the marijuana addict who still suffers achieve the same freedom. We can do this by practicing our suggested twelve steps of recovery and by being guided as a group by our twelve traditions.
Marijuana Anonymous uses the basic 12 Steps of Recovery founded by Alcoholics Anonymous, because it has been proven that the 12 Step Recovery program works!
Public Information
The primary purpose of Marijuana Anonymous is to help the addict who still suffers. Therefore, public outreach, in the form of education, information, and awareness is an important aspect of our program. In addition to serving addicts, we welcome interest and inquiries from service providers in all areas - medical, the court system, educators, social workers, counsellors - as well as from the general public.

Hospitals and Institutions
Marijuana Anonymous are able to provide panels, comprised of members in recovery, to speak in a diverse range of settings: schools, hospitals, prisons, conferences, rehabs. We are not "experts" who lecture on scientific aspects of drug use, nor do we have opinions on controversial issues such as legalization. Our members speak from personal experience about what it was like in the throes of active addiction, what happened, and what it's like now that they are in recovery.
If you are interested in arranging a panel, please contact: hospitals-and-institutions@marijuana-anonymous.org.uk
